Welcome back to Testimonial Tuesdays: Successful Moments with Young Living!
Lemongrass! I had no idea that such an oil would be useful for so many things! Read on to hear about two uses that I've discovered, and then bring your own Testimonial, or Young Living-based blog post over to join the discussion through my Tuesday Testimonials Linky!
Here is my experience with an oil that I am finding to be far more versatile than I thought it would be... but it's turning out that almost all oils are that way!
When I first heard that Lemongrass helps with under-eye circles, I decided I had to try it immediately. I also ignored the warnings that it's a HOT oil, and tends to create a burning sensation on the skin. I'm a bit on the lazy side when it comes to blending my oils with carriers, probably because the supposed "hot" oils (Peppermint, Rosemary, Oregano) have never caused me any trouble in the past. So out came my Lemongrass, and on it went under the yes.
OW! OW! OW! OW!
Lesson number 1: Lemongrass is a HOT HOT oil and will create that reported burning sensation. Please trust me on that! Whew! So blinking through the tears (I could have diluted it with olive oil, even then, but just opted to tough it out), I let it go to work. I could have kicked myself later for not taking a before picture. Darn it!
But here is a picture taken after two applications (the 2nd time I diluted it. I did not need to go through that experience again!) I know - close up eye shots are rarely, if ever, flattering, but I'm putting myself out there to show you what happened. This picture is:
- a shot taken with the sun behind the camera, and fully on my face.
- the "worst" I could get in terms of showing the dark patch that remains.
- shown with no make-up on my face (it's too much of a pain to make it worth putting on most days, so I don't except for things like the Air Force ball),
- after two applications of Lemongrass directly to my under-eye area.
The times I do put on make-up, an under-eye concealer is one of the first things that I put on. I don't wear concealer at all otherwise. And this looks as good as when I have that concealer on! I am sold on this application of Lemongrass... as long as it's diluted first!
Story Number 2...
I originally bought the Lemongrass for bug spray at one of our monthly crafty-oilers meetings. I have kept a bottle of that bug spray in the car for when I'm out and about, I don't want to be caught unaware! Last week, Maestro and I reached his scout hut before it was open and had about a half-hour to kill. He told me that the area was pretty bad for mosquitos and that he didn't want to get out of the car. Like any good mother, I said, "Let's try this bug spray, get out and see what happens."
He was a dutiful son and gamely sprayed it on. I managed to spray it on all of my exposed limbs except my lower left calf. We got out and as we sat on some benches nearby, I waited and watched. Twenty minutes later, no mosquitos had accosted Maestro. Three very large mosquitos and a handful of flies had come close to my (sprayed) arms and backed away without landing; two more headed straight for that one, unsprayed leg. Once again - I am sold on this application of Lemongrass!
Lemongrass is described as having a light, fresh, citrus aroma, with earthy undertones, and is useful for supporting the circulatory system, insect repellent, mental clarity, and more. This is an oil that can be used topically, within aromatherapy, or internally as a supplement (put one drop into 4 oz. of milk.)
